(27500) Mandelbrot is an asteroid of the main belt . It was discovered on April 12, 2000 by the Italian-American astronomer Paul G. Comba at the Prescott Observatory ( IAU code 684) in Arizona .
The asteroid was named after the French - American mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot named.
