(4230) van den Bergh is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 19, 1973 by the research team Cornelis Johannes van Houten and Tom Gehrels at Mount Palomar .

The asteroid was named on May 28, 1991 after the Dutch-Canadian astronomer Sidney van den Bergh .
