(4262) DeVorkin is a main belt asteroid discovered on February 5, 1989 by Masaru Arai and Hiroshi Mori at the Yorii Observatory .

The asteroid was named after the American astronomical historian David H. DeVorkin (* 1944). He was chairman of the Historical Astronomy Division of the American Astronomical Society from 1997 to 1999 . Since 1981 he has been a curator at the National Air and Space Museum .
