(992) Swasey is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 14 November 1922 by Russian-American astronomer Otto Struve at Yerkes Observatory in Wisconsin was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the optician Dr. Swasey , who built a telescope at the McDonald Observatory .
