history

1. FCA Darmstadt was founded on September 10, 1954 under the name 1. FC 04 Arheilgen , when the footballing tradition of SpVgg. 04 Arheilgen wanted to continue. This was created in 1921 from the merger of the local soccer clubs FC Olympia 04 (the FCA "original cell") and FC Germania 06 (later SG Arheilgen ). In 1954, however, there was a disagreement about the development of the football department, whereupon several top performers from SG Arheilgen turned their backs and launched 1. FC 04 Arheilgen . The first competitive game was played on April 17, 1955, in which the long-time, undefeated champions were defeated 3-2 in the first game of the B-class in Hergershausen. With this first victory, the number of members grew enormously, so that in 1955 there was a friendly game against Karlsruher SC .

On May 22, 1955, the sports field was inaugurated with a game against athletic rivals SKG Graefenhausen . In the first season, the FCA rose as champions. On May 21, 1967, he was even promoted to the third-class Hessen League . After the number of spectators had kept within limits despite the sporting success, the club renamed itself in 1970 to 1. FCA Darmstadt . In the 1970/71 season there was a city derby in the Hessen League between 1. FCA Darmstadt and SV Darmstadt 98 , which had already played first-class in the 1950s. In front of 5,000 spectators, the game at FCA ended 0-0, but the Arheilger won the second leg at Böllenfalltor 1-0. Nevertheless, the lilies rose again to the 2nd division and even offered Bundesliga football in the 1978/79 and 1981/82 seasons, so that the other Darmstadt clubs were only in the shadow of the 98s at that time. However, the 1. FCA had realistic chances of promotion in the 1977/78 season and even applied for a license for the 2. Bundesliga, but the promotion was missed. After many years in the league, relegation took its course until 1. FCA in 2004 arrived in the district league.

With the help of a new presidium and under new sporting management, a successful sporting promotion was achieved in Arheilgen from 2007. Richard Haša came to Gehmer Weg from the third-class regional league from SV Darmstadt 98 and has since managed to sign professionals from the regional league for the FCA. In 2008/09, the first place in the seventh-class group league Darmstadt was promoted to the sixth-class association league Hessen South . This was followed by Darmstadt derbies with Rot-Weiß Darmstadt and SV Darmstadt 98 II . The climber was able to stay in the top group and finally took second place behind champion Rot-Weiß Darmstadt. This was followed by the relegation for the fifth-class Hessen League , in which the 3-2 win against VfB Unterliederbach was decisive. So they finally prevailed in the relegation against Unterliederbach and Lehnerz, so that the OSC Vellmar and the 1. FCA Darmstadt were eligible to play for the Hessenliga.

With Richard Hasa and Živojin Juškić as the sporting directors, the kickers from Arheilgen managed to stay in the league in their first season in the Hessenliga.

On May 24, 2012, the Darmstadt District Court ordered the provisional administration of the association's assets under transaction number: 9 IN 453/12 in the insolvency application process. In the subsequent 2012/13 season, the club was relegated to the Hessen Football Association League . Coach Michael Mahla was replaced after the 28th matchday by Taner Yalcin, under whom the 10th place in the table was reached and the relegation succeeded. In July 2014, Daniel Ciucă took over as coach at 1. FCA Darmstadt. After two more seasons in the association league, relegation to the group league followed. Aydin Kurt became the new trainer on July 1, 2016, but resigned after just three months. At the beginning of 2017, the new coach was Ecevit Balaban. But even he could not prevent the Arheilger from relegating directly to the district top division. In August 2017, Balaban threw in the towel and was then replaced by Mark Dillmann as player-coach. At the end of the 2017/18 season, the club secured relegation games against the representatives FSV Schneppenhausen and TSV Wolfskehlen. In the 2018/19 season, the team will be coached by Marcel Bergemann.
