The 1. FC Schwandorf is a sports club from Schwandorf in Bavaria same district . The club is best known for its football department, but there are also diving , swimming , tennis and coronary sports on offer.

history

The club was founded on December 20, 1913 as the first pure football club. In the spring of 1914, the association was given a plot of land on the vineyard . Due to the outbreak of the First World War, the association was not entered in the register of associations until 1919. On July 17, 1921, the site that had been given in 1914 was inaugurated. A year later, the merger with TV Schwandorf followed , with whom they had often played in a game association before. Because the Deutsche Reichsbahn had bought the property in the meantime, the addition of the Reichsbahn was added. In 1929 the construction of the sports field began on the site which was inaugurated as the Hindenburgkampfbahn at the end of June 1930 . In 1934, after some back and forth with mergers and the temporary deletion from the club register, the name was finally renamed 1. FC Schwandorf - Reichsbahn Sportverein Schwandorf . With the outbreak of World War II, it was difficult to continue gaming operations. After the war it was difficult to maintain the association's activities due to the occupying powers. It was not until November 17, 1947 that the club was approved again. In 1950 a fencing department was set up. After tennis courts were built in 1952, the tennis department was also founded. In 1994 a soft dart department was established. In 1987 a department for diving was established. In 2019 a merger of the club with SC Ettmannsdorf was started, but this has not yet been completed.

Beginnings and heyday in the 1st amateur league in Bavaria

After the founding of the South German Football Association in 1945. The football team was sorted into the Upper Palatinate District League in 1946. For the 1956/57 season , the promotion to the then third-rate 1st Amateur League Bayern succeeded , there the team was classified in the South Season and was able to end its first season in 11th place in the table, which entitled to remain in the league. For the next season you could even improve to 5th place in the table. In the following season even 4th place was possible. In the following seasons, in a now single-track league, you could no longer show such table positions. In the 1968/69 season then followed as bottom of the table relegation to the state league .

Time after that

After another descent you found yourself after the 1973/74 season in the district league - Upper Palatinate . In 1976/77 it was enough for the renewed promotion to the state league . In the 1979/80 season things went a league lower. At the end of the 1987/88 season you could qualify for the new district league next season. After another relegation to the district league group north they managed superior championship in the 1992/93 season and rose again to the district league.

Further sporting decline and end of gaming

Up to the 2005/06 season they played in the single-track regional league Oberpfalz , for the 2006/07 season the team was then classified in the southern season. From the 2010/11 season a change to the North season followed. In the end, the same season also meant relegation to the Cham / Schwandorf West district league . In the following season, however, the direct rise again succeeded. But this did not last long because in the 2012/13 season they were relegated again as this time bottom of the table, again in the Kreisliga West. The 2014/15 season ended with a disastrous 5 points as the bottom of the table and relegated to the Cham / Schwandorf West district class. This should have been the last descent.

In the following season 2015/16 in the district class Cham / Schwandorf West , the team had to play in a relegation game against TSV Trausnitz due to the penultimate place in the table. That game was won and the league was held. In the following season, however, a syndicate with the third team of SC Ettmannsdorf was closed. In the 2017/18 season, the second place in the table could be achieved, but a relegation game did not take place because the team was canceled from the game after the season.

athletics

In the 50s and 60s, the club was repeatedly successful at the German athletics championships . Thus achieved Heinz Kosina 1951 at 200 Meters bronze. In 1953 he also succeeded in doing this in the 100-meter run . 1961 then succeeded Ilse Junghänel the javelin that gain the bronze medal, the whole repeated then in 1962 and for the last time in 1966 (under the name Ilse Spiers ).
