The volleyball department of 1. SC Norderstedt eV was founded in 1974. The first men's volleyball team played in the second division from 1982 to 1994 and even in the first division in 1983/84, 1987/88, 1990/91 and 1994/95 after the transfer of game rights from 1. VC Hamburg . Well-known national players were in the 1970s / 80s a. a. Klaus "Hamster" Wegner , Thomas Broscheit and the Hungarian László Buzek . In the 1990s, the first German beach volleyball players to win a medal at the Olympic Games, Jörg Ahmann and Axel Hager, played in Norderstedt. In addition, Stefan Huebner , who learned to play volleyball at the club on the outskirts of Hamburg, served Oliver Oetke and Ralph Bergmann in Norderstedt. Today the men play in the Hamburg district league.
