Oliver Oetke (born August 18, 1968 in Stuttgart ) is a former German volleyball and beach volleyball player . He was both two-time German indoor and beach volleyball champions and took part in the Olympic Games.

Sports career hall

Oliver Oetke started playing volleyball at TSV Grafing . At the age of 17 he moved to TSV 1860 in the 1st Bundesliga . With TSV Milbertshofen , the student at the time achieved his greatest successes in indoor volleyball with winning the cup in 1990 and the championship in the subsequent 1990/91 season. The budding physician was able to repeat the championship success only one year later, this time with the Moerser SC. In 1992 Oetke returned to the greater Munich area and played for two years at ASV Dachau. The 1994/95 season at 1. SC Norderstedt ended Oliver Oetke's successful Bundesliga career. From 2007 to 2010, the now 42-year-old still played in the fourth-highest German division at VC Minden in Oberliga 2 in North Rhine-Westphalia as a diagonal player or outside attacker.

Sports career beach

In 1995 Oliver Oetke started his second career. He had his first success with his first partner Edgar Krank when he won the German masters tournament in 1995 in Frankfurt. In 1996 there were successes in Cologne and Kühlungsborn as well as third place at the German championships. In 1997 Krank / Oetke took part in the first official beach volleyball world championships in Los Angeles , where they finished 17th. Also in the other two World Cup participations in 1999 and Marseille and 2001 in Klagenfurt there were 17th places for Oliver Oetke with his new partner Andreas Scheuerpflug . The two also won the German championships in 1999 and 2000, several master tournaments, finished fourth at the 2000 World Cup in Brazil and fifth in Canada. Another highlight of her career was taking part in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney . Due to Andreas Scheuerpflug's illness, which had not yet been completely overcome, the two did not succeed in winning. In 2001 Oetke / Scheuerpflug reached the final of the German championships again. In 2002 there were two more wins at the Masters and a second place. Another success for Oliver Oetke was the election for beach volleyball player of the year in 2000 .

Private

Oetke grew up in Grafing near Munich. After graduating from high school, he studied medicine. From 2007 to 2010 the specialist in orthopedics and trauma surgery lived with his wife Franziska, their son Aaron and their two children Sophie and Julius in Minden in Westphalia and practiced his profession at the Auguste Viktoria Clinic in Bad Oeynhausen as a senior physician in the spine department. Then Oetke returned to Munich. From 2010 to 2012 he worked as a senior physician at the Schön Klinik in Harlaching. In the following years he worked as a senior spinal surgeon at the practice clinic Dr. Schneiderhan works in Munich-Taufkirchen. From 2015 to 2017 he was employed at OrthoCenter Professor Lill in Munich as a specialist in spinal surgery until he set up his own practice in 2017.
