With VC Schwerte , both the 1st VC Schwerte 1968 e. V. as well as the successor club VC Schwerte 02 e. V. designated.

The VC Schwerte 02 e. V., like its predecessor, apart from a hobby mixed team, is a pure, performance-oriented women's volleyball club in Schwerte .

history

The VC Schwerte 1968 e. V. successfully played volleyball in the women's and female youth division until its bankruptcy and dissolution in 2001. Thanks to a, albeit much criticized, strictly performance-related concept by the married couple Alfred and Dagmar Berg , the association achieved considerable success. Numerous national players played in Schwerte during this time: Heidi Keil , Silvia Meiertöns , Christa Schubert , Ruth Holzhausen , Marina Staden , Birgitta Rühmer , Alexandra Ludwig , Sabine Nasarow , Susanne Köster , Stefani Legall , Michaela Vosbeck , Claudia Wildhardt , Susanne Schlarmann , Ines Pianka , Maike Friedrichsen , Johanna Reinink and others. Shortly before its economic decline, the association renamed itself VEW Telnet Schwerte, according to the new main sponsor.

The VC Schwerte 02 e. V. was founded in 2002 to continue the tradition of performance volleyball in Schwerte with a new beginning after the 1st VC Schwerte 1968 e. V, had failed financially. The aim was to promote performance-oriented volleyball in Schwerte on the one hand, and not to repeat the conceptual and economic mistakes of the previous club on the other.

After years in the regional league, the VC Schwerte 02 e. V. in the 2006/07 season promoted to the 2nd North Volleyball Bundesliga . Despite some wins in the first half of the season, the team could not maintain the level of the league. After relegation, the team disintegrated, and the club waived the right to play in the regional league. Since the second agency had already dissolved, the VC Schwerte 02 e started. V. in the 2007/08 season only in the association league.

On April 28, 2014, the members of the two Schwerter volleyball clubs (VC Schwerte 02 and VV Phönix Schwerte) agreed on a merger and have been operating as a joint club under the name VV Schwerte since the 2014/15 season.

The 1st VC Schwerte 1968 e. V. was German volleyball champion several times (1978 and 1979) and DVV Cup winner (1977, 1978, 1980 and 1998).
