Career hall

Ines Pianka played 259 times for the German senior national team , at the age of just 16 she made her debut in the then so successful GDR women's national team , with which she won the silver medal at the European championships in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1989 . Three years earlier she had already succeeded in doing this with the junior selection at the European Championships in Bulgaria. From January 1991, she was the integrator and playmaker in the formation of the all-German national team, with which she won the first medal (bronze) for an A national team of the German Volleyball Association (DVV) at the 1991 European Championships in Italy. got. In her more than twelve-year career in the women's national team, there were other top placings at European championships with fifth place at the 1994 World Championships in Brazil, the best world championship ranking of a DVV selection to date. In 1996 Ines Pianka led the German team at the Olympic qualification tournament in Bremen for the first ever victory against the mighty Soviet Union and thus to the Olympic Games in Atlanta . The captain of the DVV Olympic team ended her career in the national jersey with eighth place.

Ines Pianka played nationally for SC Dynamo Berlin (six times champion of the GDR and three times cup winners), for USC Münster (European cup winners, German champions and German cup winners), for CJD Feuerbach and for VC Schwerte ( DVV cup winners ). As a playmaker, she led the underdog Schwerte to win the cup again in the spring of 1998 and then ended her impressive indoor career. By the way, she probably set a record for the ages: With her first appearance for USC Münster in the Bundesliga, a series began in 1990 that only ended with her last appearance at the end of the 1997/98 season - after eight seasons : During this time Ines Pianka never missed a single Bundesliga, cup or European cup match of her clubs. In view of these sporting achievements, the unbelievable persistence as well as her always exemplary appearance on and outside the volleyball field, it was not surprising that she received numerous honors not only as "best setter": in 1991 (as the first all-German) and in 1995 she became the volleyball player of the Year elected. She and her clubs have been honored many times as “Team of the Year” at their stations in Berlin, Münster, Stuttgart and Schwerte. She was named Sportsman of the Year by the Sports Association of the City of Münster at the Ball des Sports in 1990. She was also honored as “Sportsman of the Year” in Schwerte.

Career Beach

Ines Pianka was also very successful in beach volleyball . Two months after the end of her indoor career, she won her first master's tournament in May 1998 at the side of Jana Vollmer against the entire national competition. In 1998, the duo stood on the podium in all eight tournaments of the highest German beach series at the time: Four times first place, three times second place and once third place was the impressive result that they crowned as German runner-up in Timmendorfer Strand . By 2005 she won a total of 13 master tournaments with various partners, more than any other player during this time. In international appearances in 1999 and 2000, Steffi Pohl u. a. second place at the World Challenger in Italy, ninth place at the World Series Grand Slam tournament in Berlin and seventh place at the European Championships in Spain. From 2001 Ines Pianka played together with the American Tonya Williams , so that no more international appearances were possible. The "Grande Dame of German Volleyball" (volleyball magazine) said goodbye after almost 30 years of career from the big stage.
