1221 Avenue of the Americas is the name and address of a skyscraper in New York City in the Manhattan borough . The building is also known as the McGraw-Hill Building . It was completed in 1972 after construction began in 1969. The structure has a height of 205 meters. In the tower itself there are 51 floors, most of which are occupied by offices. The structure of the building consists of steel columns clad with aluminum and plaster on the facade and a steel core inside the tower, where elevators and supply lines are also housed. The former World Trade Center was also built according to this construction method . The skyscraper is located not far from 1251 Avenue of the Americas , which was built in an identical manner and at the same time.
