18 is the sixth studio album by the American artist Moby and was released on April 29, 2002. The album features guest appearances from Azure Ray , MC Lyte , Angie Stone and Sinéad O'Connor . A collection of B-sides and footage was released a year later with 18 B Sides + DVD .

reception

The critical opinion on this album was mixed to positive. Some critics accuse him that it is a reprint of old ideas and that he lacks inspiration. David Browne argued in an article for Entertainment Weekly that Moby was sticking to the recipe for success on his previous album, Play, and adding some innovations in order not to stand still artistically. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, on the other hand, argued for Allmusic that Moby was taking a step away from play , and thus from the mainstream, at 18 .

The album debuted at number 1 in many European countries, including Austria, Switzerland, Great Britain and France. It has been sold more than 5 million times worldwide and has achieved gold and platinum status in over 30 countries. This is a respectable achievement for an electronic music album, but it wasn't half as successful as its predecessor Play.
