2,4,5-Trichlorophenol is a colorless crystalline solid with a phenol- like odor. It belongs to the trichlorophenols group of substances . It only dissolves very little in water (approx. 1.2 g / l). The substance is readily soluble in non-polar, organic solvents ( hydrocarbons ) as well as in oils and fats. 2,4,5-Trichlorophenol is used to produce hexachlorophene and plant protection products ( herbicides ) such as 2,4,5-Trichlorophenoxyacetic acid .
