2-nonene is an organochemical compound from the group of alkenes that occurs in two isomeric forms.

Occurrence

2-nones occurs in cigarette smoke .

Extraction and presentation

Nonenes can be obtained by trimerizing a C3 petroleum stream containing 40-60% propylene in the presence of a phosphoric acid catalyst.

use

Nonene (which also includes 2- nonene ) are used as an intermediate in the polymer, surfactant and detergent industries.
