The 1977-78 season of the 2. Bundesliga Volleyball Men was the fourth edition of this competition.

2nd Bundesliga North

TSV Bonn became champions and promoted to the 1st Bundesliga . The runner-up CVJM Siegen also rose. TV Jahn Wilhelmsburg had to get down.

This season the following eight teams played in the men's 2nd Bundesliga North:

VfL Lintorf was relegated from the 1st Bundesliga. TV Jahn Wilhelmsburg was promoted from the Regionalliga Nord.
