history

SV Wilhelmsburg was created in 2003 through the merger of Wilhelmsburger SV 93 with TSC Viktoria Wilhelmsburg-Veddel and TV Jahn Wilhelmsburg . The Wilhelmsburger SV 93 was created on May 8, 1972 through the merger of the Wilhelmsburg 09 , TSV Vorwärts Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg and Box-Club Wilhelmsburg clubs . TSC Viktoria Wilhelmsburg-Veddel was formed on July 1, 1974 through the merger of Viktoria Wilhelmsburg with TSV Veddel . The most successful parent clubs were Wilhelmsburg 09 and Viktoria Wilhelmsburg, whose footballers competed in the top division, the Gauliga , for seven and three years respectively in the 1930s and 1940s .

The immediate successor clubs could not build on these successes. The Wilhelmsburger SV 93 never got beyond the second highest Hamburg amateur league. The TSC Viktoria Wilhelmsburg-Veddel played from 1976 to 1978 and from 1980 to 1992 in the highest Hamburg league and in 1986, as fourth, only just missed participation in the promotion round to the Oberliga Nord . After the merger, the first men's team started in the Landesliga Hansa , from which the team was relegated in 2009. Four years later, the SVW was runner-up and made it back to the national league via the promotion round. After only one year, she was relegated to the district league in 2014.

The female soccer players who have played in the Hamburg Association League since the merger in 2003 are more successful. In 2008 and 2011, the Wilhelmsburg women were runner-up in each case. In 2010 and 2011, the team won the Hamburg Cup and qualified for the DFB Cup. There were double-digit defeats against second division clubs in the first rounds . 2010/11 , the continued FFC Oldesloe 2000 0: 10 a year later of 1. FC Lübars to 11: 1 by.

Table tennis

Table tennis was originally played at TSC Viktoria Wilhelmsburg-Veddel and TV Jahn Wilhelmsburg, although both clubs in the men's area did not get beyond the district league. The women from Victoria played in the 2nd national league for a short time. As early as the mid-1990s, i.e. before SV Wilhelmsburg was founded, both clubs formed TTG Wilhelmsburg together with the railway sports club Einigkeit Wilhelmsburg , which, as a long-standing city league club, had by far the most successful table tennis department on the Elbe island, and the workers' sports club SV Vorwärts 93 Ost from Georgswerder . After the founding of SV Wilhelmsburg, the table tennis departments of Einigkeit and Vorwärts Ost left their parent clubs and took part in SV Wilhelmsburg. In the 2020/21 season, SV Wilhelmsburg will be playing with seven men's and one women's teams, with the first men's team playing in the 2nd regional league, the third-highest division in Hamburg.
