Dinitrotoluenes

In chemistry, the dinitrotoluenes (also dinitrotoluenes ) form a group of aromatic compounds that are derived from both toluene and dinitrobenzenes . The structure consists of a benzene ring with an attached methyl group  (-CH ₃ ) and two nitro groups  (-NO ₂ ) as substituents . Their different arrangement results in six constitutional isomers with the empirical formula C ₇ H ₆ N ₂ O₄ , with 2,4-dinitrotoluene being the best known.
