action
As a child, Lukas Knispe wanted to become a diver because he liked slowness and silence. Now the 37 year old is the sales manager of a larger company and his work is the opposite of slowness and silence. So far this has not been a problem for Lukas Knispe in contrast to the leaps in time, gaps and lapses that have been bothering him in his life for some time. For example, Lukas Knispe slides from the canteen to the conference room without knowing how he turned up there. Or so Knispe does not find out about a meeting in the conference room, as he finds himself in the secretariat a moment later. Knispe's efforts to get his life back under control, that is, to come into harmony with himself and his time, ends in chaos. Lukas Knispe only makes it when he is emotionally bound. But even this endeavor is not that easy.
Reviews
“André Erkau, a graduate of the Art Academy for Media, Cologne, presents us with a firework of ideas in his experimental comedy 37 without onions . The film tells a life like in a film. A dream for many, but a bitter reality for Lukas Knispe. Because Lukas slides through the jump cuts of his life from one situation to the next. His endeavors to get back in harmony with himself and time lead to chaos. The script about the rediscovery of slowness is intelligently built, coherently written - with a good ending - and is full of ingenious details. The jury was enthusiastic about the successful dialogues, the tight dramaturgy and the imaginative transitions of the story. "
“We decided on a short film that tells a humorous story with brilliantly managed actors. The director achieves dizzying sovereignty in his play with the cinematic means. Never predictable, the film takes us on an absurd journey. Unresolved philosophical basic questions of humanity such as the relationship between space and time, memory and reality are finally dealt with in 14 minutes. "
“A big topic staged with a light hand. André Erkau told a serious problem, namely the self-alienation in our western society, with a lot of charm and wit. In addition, this film is characterized by excellent actor management. "
“ 37 without an onion (the film title finds a plausible explanation) is not only original and often extremely funny entertainment. The formally exciting and highly intelligent short film succeeds in creating a plausible metaphor for the acceleration of time in today's working world and for the employees' sense of time. "
