Dürbeck & Dohmen
Dürbeck & Dohmen is a German film music - composers - and Musikproduzentenduo . It consists of René Dohmen (born June 16, 1966 in Jülich ) and Joachim (Jumpel) Dürbeck (born December 9, 1967 in Jülich). Your studios are located in Cologne.
biography
The joint collaboration began in the late 1980s with the band "BONES", who released two studio albums and various singles on EMI Electrola . Since the age of 13, René (guitar / voc) and Jumpel (drums / keys) gained their experience in various bands (from punk to jazz ). After 400 concerts in Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, the band broke up in 1997 and René Dohmen and Joachim Dürbeck founded "Dürbeck & Dohmen". In addition to unusual projects (e.g. as “Kompressor” with Peter Hein ), in the first few years they mainly wrote music for advertising ( C&A , BOSCH , NOKIA ). In 2002 they composed their first film music for “Friday Night” - a directing project for the KHM Cologne under the direction of Wolfgang Becker . To date, they have written over 50 film scores for documentaries and feature films.
In addition to the film music, both are involved in solo projects. René Dohmen plays live with his band “Drowning by Numbers” and will release the album “Lose Control” in February 2009. In 2007 Joachim Dürbeck released his first solo album "Samuel Jason lies on the Beach" under the name "Jumpel" on the Australian label "Hidden Shoal".
Dürbeck & Dohmen are members of the German Film Academy.
style
The musical spectrum of Dürbeck & Dohmen ranges from minimalist compositions and songs to large orchestral scores. The combination of electronic and classical instrumentation, the hallmark of the composer duo, creates unusual instrumentations as well as innovative arrangements.
