action

Anne Fuchs business partner, Youssef El Kilali, has inevitably agreed to take over catering at the rehearsal for a fashion show that his pregnant wife Simone had promised an old school friend. After he preferred to come out to the models as a private detective, because that seemed more honorable to him than just being a “cook”, the model Nastja soon asks him for help. Her friend Kira has disappeared and Nastja had discovered a blood stain, which has suddenly also disappeared. Youssef calls Anne Fuchs for help and she immediately discovers a way to get a corpse out of the building amid all the hustle and bustle. If you look closely, you can also find small drops of blood. Anne and Youssef follow them to the backyard and actually find the killed Kira there in a put-down clothes container. They notify the police, but they also immediately go looking for the perpetrator, who they assume must have spattered blood on his shoes. The two, who they can actually locate, admit to having found the girl, but Kira was already dead. They only took the body outside so that the police shouldn't "destroy" the event for them.

Anne Fuchs wants to examine the background to whom Kira had become so dangerous that he eliminated her. The first leads lead to a model school, where the renowned Heike Polling trains young girls to become models. These come almost exclusively from Russia and with the prospect of a great modeling career, Polling can pay 15,000 euros per apprenticeship position. The springboard to a great career is supposedly the TV show "Jung und Schön". Anyone who gets an appearance there should have as good as made it. Before that, however, there are also less glorious appearances, such as at events at car dealerships. Here the models have to present themselves as sexy as possible in sparse clothing and the main part of their fee is paid by their trainer.

Shortly after Kira's murder, the next model suddenly falls out with symptoms of poisoning. From her, Anne and Youssef learn that both Kira and she were supposed to appear on "Jung und Schön". Now Nastja would have remained as the only candidate for the next show. Anne thinks it is unlikely that Nastja herself wanted to get rid of her competitors, because then she would not have hired Youssef as a detective.

Anna and Youssef learn that Kira actually didn't want to become a model, but only came to Germany for the sake of her sister Sonja. Sonja had also trained at Polling and is now homeless and addicted to drugs. According to them, polling's allegedly good contacts were just lies and deception. Even the TV show was a scam, and that's what Kira wanted to bring to light. For the work visa, Polling works with a corrupt German consular officer in Russia, who also collects money from the girls so that they can work in Germany. During the investigation, Nastja's friend Malte Eisenberg is suddenly killed, which gradually steers Anne Fuchs' approach in a new direction. Polling's methods are questionable and ultimately criminal, but they have nothing to do with the murders. The detective finds out that Nastja's mother, who lives with her daughter in Germany, cares so much about Nastja's career that she doesn't shrink from murder herself. Kira was Nastja's strongest competitor and Malte Eisenberg was "only" the caretaker and not at all what Valentina had envisaged for the glorious future of her daughter.

The dealings between Polling and the consular officer Schlösser also blow up in the end and both are arrested. Anna and Youssef even endanger their lives.

Anne Fuchs does not let the connection to her son be severed even in prison. She visits him regularly and notices that he is not doing well here. She has to raise money so that he can “buy” protectors in prison.

criticism

Thomas Gehringer from tittelbach.tv said: “Detective novels in the fashion milieu are neither new nor is the case particularly original, but Sabine Derflinger's staging cannot be accused of serving voyeuristic tendencies.” “'Schön und tot' offers easy crime fun with a touch of social criticism. "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave this episode the "thumbs up" without comment.

Martin Seng from Oddsmeter.de was also positive and wrote: “Thanks to interesting characters and a close look at the model business, the investigations themselves are exciting to follow, if not always pleasant to watch. The unpleasant topic is given a small but appropriate pinch of humor [...] [and] it is precisely the little jokes that loosen up 'The Vixen - Beautiful and Dead', which is quite appropriate with the depressing topics. "

The Hamburger Abendblatt evaluated: “In addition to much that can be expected, the plot also contains surprises, which helps to overcome logical breaks and simplifications.” The “film characters are [although] clichéd” and offer a “touch of Miss Marple with harmless comedy elements and finally there there are still somewhat intentional approaches to a social drama. All in all, it is solid, entertaining television entertainment. "

At evangelische.de , Tilmann P. Gangloff said : Nice and dead look like “trying to open their eyes to young female viewers (who the crime thriller will not have) to discover the world of lying models. However, the film would then have to be shown on Russian television: if the women's work permits are not extended, they only have the choice between traveling home and illegality. In contrast to the previous episodes in the series, which told much more complex stories, the plot is pretty straightforward this time; some scenes just seem too long, and not all actors can be certified with a clear conscience as an actor.
