Settlement of a thing (English title The Last Will ) is a German short film and graduation film by the director Dustin Loose at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy from 2014. It is based on the short story of the same name by the Swedish bestselling author Håkan Nesser . The film was in 2015 with the Student Oscar in the category Foreign of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded.

In order to comply with the last will of his mother, Jakob Adler has to visit his biological father, whom he has never met before, because he has been in the closed psychiatry for more than twenty-five years because he killed his brother. But before the fateful encounter takes place, Jakob wants to see the attending physician Dr. Consult Weiss to reveal the true extent of the family tragedy.
