Asche zu Asche is a German television film by Sven Nagel from 2019. It is the eighth episode of the Friesland television series .

action

Henk Cassens' aunt has died, and for cost reasons he did not commission Wolfgang Habedank with the funeral, but his competitor Cornelia Mohn. However, shortly afterwards her daughter Marion found her dead at the bottom of the stairs of her house. Insa Scherzinger's investigation clearly shows death by suffocation - after falling from the stairs.

So the investigation is for murder, while Cassens is driving his aunt's coffin around in his private car because there is nowhere to put it, which causes some confusion. As it turns out, Cornelia Mohn had a much younger lover, but whose identity is unclear. When Edgar Raabe is to be questioned, who shortly before had his father buried by Mohn, he tries to escape and is therefore arrested. Marion Mohn's friend, the mudflat guide Patrick Diekmann, recognizes him as Cornelia's lover at the station. However, Raabe firmly denies this.

Since Cornelia may have met her mysterious lover at one of the regular private parties of the Leeraner business people, Insa Scherzinger lets herself be invited to such a party, Brockhorst joins her. To his disappointment, no sex orgy is celebrated there, but only illegal gambling, in which he takes part immediately. The host is not aware of a lover of Cornelia Mohn; she always came and went alone.

Henk Cassens found an approach to the solution in the form of life insurance in the house of his deceased aunt, with whom she was ripped off. The insurance initially appears to have been operated by Cornelia Mohn and Edgar Raabe. When Wolfgang Habedank came across Patrick Diekmann in the Mohns' house, it turned out that the lover didn't exist at all and Diekmann sold the insurance. Diekmann locks Habedank in a coffin in the refrigerator, shortly afterwards Özlügül and Cassens free him.

Eventually a suspicious person is spotted in the cemetery; Özlügül and Cassens go there immediately and arrest Patrick Diekmann at the columbarium where the money was hidden. However, that has already disappeared. There is a second person in the cemetery who can be arrested after a turbulent hunt: Marion Mohn, who wanted to collect enough money to escape the funeral system, and who fell down the stairs in an argument and then strangled her when she was there found out.

In a subplot, Jan Brockhorst and Insa Scherzinger are led by the official forensic scientist Dr. Sabine Pfeiffer is under great pressure, who initially appears extremely cold and threatens all those responsible for the unofficial investigation methods with severe legal consequences, while she is actually, as it turns out at the end, very impressed by Jan Brockhorst personally.

Reviews

Tilmann P. Gangloff said on tittelbach.tv : “Because the story is a bit thin, author Stefan Rogall strings together many situations, some of which are actually funny, but sometimes also seem like a number revue [...] It's all very nice, but also deeply harmless. [...] Nagel has completely dispensed with black jokes, which are hardly avoidable in view of the subject; maybe because the film should definitely not lose its family appeal. Therefore, the finale also looks like it was staged with the handbrake on [...] "
