Under the stage name "Ivan Stein" he then had a number of appearances in theater and television, including in the series Verbotene Liebe . New Year's Eve 2015/16 in Cologne

On New Year's Eve 2015/16 Jurcevic worked as a doorman in the Excelsior Hotel Ernst next to the Cologne train station forecourt. After the massive sexual assaults between the main train station and Cologne Cathedral began , frightened women who were persecuted by a group of young men asked him for help. With sentences like "this is our girl" (Eng. 'This is our girl') the drunken persecutors urged him not to interfere. Jurcevic first tried to drive the group away with words. Finally he used punches and kicks. The men then moved away, threatening “We kill you!” (Eng. “We'll kill you!”). He later described how the men spat on guests at the hotel's New Year's Eve party.

When the extent of the attacks was gradually publicly acknowledged after the police had initially spoken of a "peaceful celebration", Jurcevic posted a video about his experiences on his Facebook page, which was viewed 4.7 million times in a few days and almost Has been shared 142,000 times. In it he described, among other things, a knife stabbing and an attack in which men hit someone in the head of someone lying on the ground. He also reported how a mob of young men had targeted rockets at the cathedral and the crowd applauded every hit, as well as arrests by the police, in which people had lain on the ground for over an hour and did not take them to the overcrowded collection points can be. Eventually they were released, whereupon they spat at police vehicles. Like many others, he had always thought that such scenes “were right-wing propaganda - but this was just real”. The perpetrators were people who were greeted with teddy bears at the train station weeks ago .

After the director of the Excelsior Hotel Ernst initially distanced himself from Jurcevic's “xenophobic statements” in an official statement, the world erroneously reported in the January 10th edition that he had resigned Jurcevic. This resulted in numerous protests on the hotel's unofficial Facebook page. The hotel later declared that Jurcevic was self-employed, so he couldn't be fired. You are still working with the security company that employs him. They also did not explicitly distance themselves “from the help that Jurcevic provided on site”, but rather “instructed the security personnel to let in women who were harassed during the night”. Jurcevic said the hotel manager had always been correct to him and that his statement was misinterpreted. For him, it is less about the origin of the perpetrators, but more about the fact that something like this does not happen again - that criminals hide under the protective cloak of refugee aid, grabbing at women and thereby dragging integrated foreign citizens into the mud.

Numerous national and international media interviewed Jurcevic about the events, including CNN , BBC and a French television station. In addition, reported The Daily Caller (USA), La Gaceta (Spain) and Il Giornale (Italy).
