Reviews

"The future is not committed to the past, but history should never be forgotten."

- Thoughts on the film by Bobby LePire from Film Threat

Bobby LePire of Film Threat writes in his review that director Rodrigo Reyes and co-writer Lorena Padilla had a heartbreaking look at Mexico, its history and its culture with their film. 499 is a bold, unique film that still finds hope in grief and optimistically looks forward to the future while still remembering the sins of the past. The most striking element of 499 is Alejandro Mejía's camera work, according to LePire. The wide-angle shots almost swallowed Eduardo San Juan Breña's figure and made it clear that not even he can with all his "power" stand against Mother Nature. The film is beautiful to watch and its majestic images linger in the minds of everyone who sees it.
