The Ranterdeller Bach is a flowing water over two kilometers long in Bochum . It is an eastern and left tributary of the Knöselsbach .

The Ranterdeller Bach rises at an altitude of about 146  m above sea level. NHN in a wooded valley between the streets Im Pastoratsbusch and Gräfin-Imma-Straße in the Ruhr heights near Stiepel .

It initially flows in a south-westerly direction through deciduous forest along the north-eastern slope of the Rumsberg , then changes to the south-southwest and then runs at the eastern foot of the Munkenbeck mountain through an agriculturally used valley. At Beckerhöfe it turns to the west and, since the course was shifted at the end of the 19th / beginning of the 20th century, it no longer flows directly into the Ruhr , but further down the river at the Kosterbrücke at an altitude of about 69  m above sea level. NHN from the left into the Knöselsbach flowing from the north .

The approximately 2.1 km long course of the Ranterdeller Bach ends about 77 meters below its source, so it has a mean bed gradient of about 37 ‰.

The 1.266 km² catchment area of ​​the Ranterdeller Bach is drained through it via the Knöselsbach, the Ruhr and the Rhine to the North Sea.

It borders

  • in the northeast to that of the Lottenbach , which drains over the Oelbach into the Ruhr
  • in the southeast to that of the Nettelbecke , which flows into the Ruhr
  • and in the north to that of Finkensiepen , which flows into the Knöselsbach.

The northeastern part of the catchment area is populated and the northwestern part is forested. In the southern area arable land dominates.
