577 Records is an independent American music label for jazz and new improvisation music .

History of the label

The Brooklyn-based label 577 Records was founded in 2001. Its roots lie in a number of living room concerts in Brooklyn; the name of the label therefore refers to the house in which these concerts first took place (577 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn). Since then, productions by Daniel Carter , Steve Dalachinsky , Jim Dvorak , Kirk Knuffke , Mette Henriette Martedatter Rølvåg / Patrick Breiner , Sabir Mateen , Ras Moshe , William Parker , Reuben Radding , Steve Swell , Rachel Musson ( Shifa: Live at Cafe Oto , 2019), Paul Flaherty and Federico Ughi . Some productions, such as Polly Barnes , were created through Kickstarter - Croudfunding .
