Aïcha is the title of a French-language song by the Algerian Raï artist Khaled , which was written for him by Jean-Jacques Goldman . " Aïcha " ( Arabic عائشة, DMG ʿĀʾiša ) is an Arabic name for women.

The first version, sung purely in French, was only released as a single in 1996 and never appeared on an album . Khaled's 1996 album Sahra contains a bilingual - French- Arabic  - version, the Arabic-language text part comes from Khaled. The video for Aïcha was produced by Sarah Moon . The French-language version was presented at the famous “1,2,3 Soleils” concert in Paris by Khaled and Faudel , another representative of the Raï.

Versions

The song has been reinterpreted by various artists. The most popular versions include the Zouk version of Kassav ' and Africando's Salsa version. Aïcha has also been translated into numerous other languages. In 2003 the Danish hip-hop band Outlandish released an English-language version ( Aicha ), which reached number 1 in the German and Swedish charts .

Central theme

The song is about a woman named Aïcha who is being courted by a man. He promises her pearls, jewels, poems and other luxury goods and romantic things, to which she replies:
