Outlandish was a three-man Danish hip-hop - band , which was founded in 1997 and disbanded in July 2017th The individual members continue to make music.

history

Three years after their founding, they achieved their breakthrough in their homeland with the album Outland's Official . After numerous awards in Denmark, the band was able to achieve 1st place in Germany in 2003 with a cover version of Cheb Khaled's song Aïcha . The song also made it into the charts in other countries, in Germany and Great Britain it reached number 31 in the charts with the title Guantanamo . In 2004 it was the best song at the Danish Music Awards .

Controversy

In December 2006 the group was associated with a very strict understanding of Islam. The occasion was a Christmas program on Danish television ( Store Juleshow ), in which the Norwegian singer Herborg Kråkevik wanted to appear in a strapless dress. Outlandish refused, according to media reports, to appear too close to Kråkevik. This was brought up by the tabloid BT in connection with the fact that two of the members are strictly religious. Louise Frevert from the right-wing conservative Dansk Folkeparti put a question to the Minister of Culture in the Danish parliament about this event, which went unanswered. Kråkevik spoke of a friendly solution on the show. Outlandish denied allegations that they had any influence at all.

Isam Bachiri is also said to have provided moral and gifts to a 19-year-old terror suspect who was acquitted in February 2007 while he was in prison. This was reported by the Danish magazine Se og hør in January 2008. The gift was sportswear. The package also included a letter from Bachiri in which he is said to have persuaded the detainee to "hold out". There was also talk of “typical Danish racism”. According to the Danish secret service Politiets Efterretningstjeneste , the prisoner, whose sister is married to Bachiri's brother, planned a terrorist attack with a bomb.
