AK Touray

AK Touray († April 26, 2002 in Serekunda - Kololi ) was a politician in the West African state of Gambia .

In the parliamentary elections in 1982 Touray stood as a non-party candidate in the constituency of Sandu . He was able to win the constituency against the previous representative of the constituency Musa S. Dabo of the People's Progressive Party (PPP). During the legislature, he joined the National Convention Party (NCP). As a candidate for the NCP, Touray ran in the subsequent elections in 1987 , but was defeated by the candidate of the PPP, Musa Drammeh . In the 1992 elections Touray lost again to Musa Drammeh when he ran as a candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP), which he joined in September 1991, in this election. After the 1994 coup, Touray retreated to the United States and returned to Gambia in 2001, joining the opposition under the leadership of the United Democratic Party (UDP).

Touray died of malaria in April 2002 in the Kololi Clinic in Serekunda-Kololi and was buried in the Tallinding cemetery in Serekunda- Tallinding .
