Andre (born November 1, 1992 in Wolfsburg ; actually André René Schmidt ) is a German pop singer.

Schmidt grew up with his younger brother with his mother and stepfather in Emsland . The student's singing talent was initially evident at an event at his school in Esterwegen , where he was invited to the musical program of the final ball in summer 2005. His mother then registered him for the Morningstar karaoke competition on Sat.1 breakfast television . With the interpretation of the hit I live by Christina Stürmer on November 25, 2005, he set a new record on the show. In the telephone vote, 94 percent of viewers voted positively, more than any other appearance before.

A manager became aware of Schmidt through the performance and signed him. He negotiated for him a record deal with the entertainment company Universal Music Group . Produced by Jens Kuphal and Götz von Sydow , Andre's debut single Why Du? . The guitar pop song is about his buddy who took his girlfriend off his feet.

For marketing purposes, the start diary was broadcast daily in the afternoon program of the German children's television station Nick from September 28, 2006 , in which Andre acted a newcomer on the way from his discovery to his breakthrough. The single was finally released on October 27, 2006 and hit the German music charts straight away .
