A340 (former, Russia)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A340 was the number of a trunk road in Russia 's Astrakhan Oblast . As part of European route 40, it runs from Astrakhan over 69 km in a north-easterly direction through the Volga Delta to the Kazakh border. At the time of the Soviet Union it continued on the territory of the Kazakh Soviet Republic as far as Aktyubinsk (today Aqtöbe ).

In 2010 the number A340 was newly assigned to a road in the Siberian Republic of Buryatia , the former A165 from Ulan-Ude to the Mongolian border. The former A340 bears the designation 12K-040 as the regional road of the Astrakhan Oblast between Astrakhan and Krasny Yar; the section from Krasny Jar to the Kazakh border is part of the 12A-114 from Seitowka to the Kazakh border.

The Kazakh part of the Soviet A340 has been numbered A27 for a long time .
