ABViewer is CAD software for working with DWG, DXF , PLT , STEP , IGES , STL and other 2D and 3D CAD files. The application allows you to create and edit the drawings and save them as AutoCAD DWG / DXF, PDF , JPG and other vector and raster formats.
In 2003 the software was developed by CADSoftTools. Since then the program has been translated into more than 30 languages and now it supports more than 50 2D / 3D vector and raster formats.
history
The early version of the ABViewer was a viewer that also allowed CAD files to be merged, BMP and EMF images to be kept on the clipboard and the group of files to be printed out. Originally the program supported 20 languages and was available in two versions (Standard and Professional). In 2007 it was no longer just about a viewer. It became a tool for viewing, editing and converting CAD files. The application had the full set of professional editor tools and supported functions used in design and engineering. As a converter, ABViewer enables you to convert the selected parts of the image.
options
Viewer
ABViewer allows 2D and 3D drawings to be viewed. It supports working with layers and layouts; Users can move the drawings: e.g. B. zoom the 3D models, rotate and change the views and the display mode; Users can navigate through the files using the Thumbnails window. It is possible to show / hide texts and dimensions and to measure the drawings in 2D and 3D mode. The program not only shows the drawings, but also provides access to the drawing properties and structure.
editor
The editor mode allows users to create new drawings as well as edit the imported drawings. ABViewer offers a wide range of tools for working with CAD drawings: drawing tools (for adding units); editing tools (for working with created drawings); different types of catch; Working with the blocks and the external references.
Save and print
ABViewer allows to save and print drawings: save in vector and raster formats; Conversion of DWG / DXF files into G-code ; advanced print settings (print on several pages, print preview, plot settings). Filegroup operations are also available: batch processing and batch printing.
Advanced features
ABViewer also offers additional functions for working with drawings: conversion of PDF drawings into editable DWG files, redline mode for adding comments, comparison of revisions of DWG / DXF drawings, georeferencing, work from the command line, support for LISP and XML .

reception
Ron LaFon from cadalyst magazine compared nine different CAD viewers in 2008, including ABViewer v6.2. He described the ABViewer plug-ins for graphics tools such as IrfanView and XnView as an “inexpensive and fast solution” for displaying and managing images. He also emphasized that the program supported most of the languages in the test field (32 in total) and had a “clean and easy-to-understand” user interface .
The digital engineering magazine called the ABViewer (version 7) a "cost-efficient quality application" that is suitable for engineers as well as office use. The thumbnail display of directory contents was particularly emphasized , which makes the search for images much easier. Softpedia describes ABViewer Version 12 as a modern tool that can help with many tasks and is easy and intuitive to use for inexperienced users.
