The 1983/84 season was the third regular season of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League . During the regular season, the six teams were supposed to play 72 games each, but the schedule had to be revised due to the early, financially-related departure of the Birmingham Bulls . In the play-offs, the Erie Golden Blades prevailed and won the Bob Payne Trophy for the first time in their club's history .
