The Erie Golden Blades were an American ice hockey franchise of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League based in Erie , Pennsylvania .

history

The Erie Golden Blades began playing in the 1982/83 season in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League founded a year earlier . The Golden Blades replaced the Erie Blades from the American Hockey League , which merged with the Baltimore Skipjacks in 1982 and then played under their name in Baltimore , Maryland . The Erie Golden Blades took second place in the regular season each year for the five seasons of their existence, and they also won the Bob Payne Trophy as ACHL champions in the 1983/84 season . When the league was dissolved in 1987, the Golden Blades also stopped playing. The Golden Blades were eventually replaced by the Erie Panthers , who were active in the East Coast Hockey League from 1988 to 1996 .
