The AC Landshut (full name AC Landshut Devils -. Automobile Club Landshut eV in ADAC ) is a German Motorsport Association of Landshut the on speedway has specialized.

history

The Automobilclub Landshut (ACL) was founded on October 21, 1922 from a loose association of the Landshut ADAC members. On Sunday, November 19, 1922, the club organized a mountain and flat test drive on the new mountain road for passenger cars and motorcycles after barely four weeks of existence. The event was only for members of the ACL. The race started at 8:30 in the morning. The greatest demands were placed on the drivers, as they sometimes had to drive on completely icy roads. Except for a few minor accidents, the race went smoothly.

On March 4, 1947, at the instigation of the head of the Landshut road traffic department, Mr. Reitberger, and with the active participation of the later district chairman and ADAC president Franz Stadler, the re-establishment of the ACL was decided. District Administrator Franz Graf von Spreti became the first chairman after the Second World War . In May 1952, the sand track in the Hammerbach Stadium was approved by the examination committee and the opening race took place on June 15, 1952. 120 drivers fought here.

Former place of work Hammerbachstadion

As early as 1953, the ACL organized an international dirt track race that attracted 12,000 spectators. It was won by Josef Chalupa from Vienna. Guggenberger from Schierling set a track record with 85.7 km / h. In the following years such famous names as Josef Seidl, "Wak" Hofmeister, Albin Siegl, Peter Kern, Sinzinger, Hamberger, Tatum, Odakler Oestblom, Mathiasen, Manfred Poschenrieder , Aberl and Thomsson were able to enter the starter and winner lists. In 1971 a field of drivers with very well-known names started: Barry Briggs , Jon Ödegaard Andy Ross , Graham Miles , Josef Angermüller , Christoph Betzl , Heinrich Sprenger , Rudolf Kastl , Alois Wiesböck , Otto Lantenhammer and Waldemar Bacik .

Ellermühle

A new Ellermühle stadium was built on August 29, 1974. It has a total area of around 76,000 square meters and a capacity of 12,000 visitors. The length of the track is 390 m. It was completed on August 17, 1975 and then the ACL and the city of Landshut were able to inaugurate the speedway stadium with an opening race.

In the course of some modernization work in 2012, large parts of the stadium were covered. Since then, the stadium has again been suitable for international events such as the "Best Pairs" series, which is broadcast live on television. The stadium is now called One Solar Arena .

The Bundesliga and later Superliga teams set up by the ACL have so far reached 19 German championships and nine German runner-up championships, and the individual drivers also won many important prizes.
