The AFG Grégoire is a French passenger car.

history

The French front-wheel drive pioneer Jean-Albert Grégoire designed a small car from January 1941 on behalf of the Société Aluminum Française . The task envisaged a vehicle that should offer space for four people, weigh a maximum of 400 kg, consume a maximum of four liters per 100 km, and reach a top speed of 90 km / h.

A total of four vehicles were built. Plans to sell this prototype to Fiat or Simca failed. Panhard took over the project and developed the Dyna from it . The British Kendall and the Australian Hartnett were also based on this prototype.

A vehicle of this brand can be viewed in the Cité de l'Automobile in Mulhouse .

chassis

The engine was mounted in the front of the chassis and drove the front wheels.

engine and gears

An air-cooled two - cylinder boxer engine with 594 cm³ displacement (72 mm bore , 73 mm stroke ), which developed 15 hp , provided the drive . The transmission had four gears, the top three of which were synchronized.

body

The vehicles were bodied as two-door convertible sedans with space for four people. The bodies were made of aluminum .

mass and weight

With a wheelbase of 2000 mm and a track width of 1220 mm, the vehicle length was 3475 mm, the vehicle width 1300 mm and the vehicle height 1340 mm. The weight of the vehicles was initially given as 398 kg, in 1945 it was 476 kg.
