The AHS Kryl ( A rmato h aubica S amobieżna, in German meaning "self-propelled gun") is a Polish self-propelled gun with an artillery gun in caliber 155 mm, which was developed by Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW). So far only one prototype has been built.

Development history

The Kryl project was funded by the Narodowe Centrum Badań i Rozwoju (in German: National Center for Research and Development) as a military project. The gun was developed with the support of the Israeli armaments company Elbit Systems and the shape of the Kryl system is similar to the Israeli self-propelled gun ATMOS 2000 . An introduction to the Polish army is planned, where the Kryl system will replace the outdated self-propelled guns of the types DANA and 2S1 .

Base vehicle

The AHS Kryl is mounted on a 6 × 6 military truck Jelcz 663.32 from the Polish company Jelcz on the rear third of the vehicle. The Jelcz 663.32 is 10.3 m long, 2.55 m wide and 3.44 m high and offers space for five soldiers in the driver's cab . AHS Kryl can be airloaded on the C-130 military transport aircraft and has a combat weight of 21 tons. The cabin with a two-piece bulletproof windshield is armored. The armor should be sufficient for STANAG 4569 . The long - nosed car has an in-line six-cylinder diesel engine of the type 6R106TD21 with supercharging , which MTU Friedrichshafen has bought in. It generates a maximum output of 240 kW at 2200 / min and a maximum torque of 1300 Nm at 1200 / min to 1600 / min. The engine complies with the Euro 3 emissions standard and is connected to a mechanical gearbox with nine gears. A liquid cooling system with an expansion tank regulates the operating temperature of the engine. The Jelcz 663.32 reaches a speed of 85 km / h on paved roads and can negotiate trenches of 0.6 m and gradients of up to 20 ° without preparation. The range of AHS Kryl is given as 500 km.

The gun

The 155-mm artillery gun in the caliber of 52 caliber lengths can carry up to 18 projectiles and has a firing rate of a maximum of six shots per minute. The elevation range extends from −3 ° to + 70 °, the lateral alignment range is a total of 50 °. The minimum shooting distance is five kilometers, the maximum shooting range with extended-range full-bore projectiles (with base bleed ) is 40 km. The AHS Kryl is ready to use in less than a minute. The fire control system consists of a ballistic computer, a weapons system computer, and an MVRS-700SCD muzzle speedometer. The weapon is navigated using the TALIN 5000 inertial navigation system.
