The ship is part of a series of identical tankers that were built for the shipping company and put into service in 2016 and 2017. The keel of the ship was laid on October 30, 2015, and the ship was launched on January 22, 2017. The completion took place on April 5, 2017. The hull of part of the series, including that of the Sola TS , is ice-reinforced ( ice class 1B).

The ship is of Tsakos Columbia Shipmanagement in Athens bereedert .

The ship collided with the frigate Helge Ingstad on November 8, 2018 off Norway . The 23 men remained unharmed on board. After repairing the damage, the ship left the port of Gdansk on December 13, 2018.

The Sola TS is of a MAN - diesel engine (type: 6G60ME-C) is driven. The engine acts on a propeller . Three diesel generators from Hyundai Engine & Machinery are available for power generation (type: Himsen 7H17 / 28).
