The MAN Energy Solutions SE ( Societas Europaea ), based in Augsburg is a provider of large-bore diesel engines and turbomachinery for marine and stationary applications. The company develops two-stroke and four-stroke engines that are produced in-house or by licensees and have an output between 450 kW and 87 MW. In addition, MAN Energy Solutions develops and manufactures gas turbines up to 50 MW, steam turbines up to 150 MW and compressors with volume flows of up to 1.5 million m³ / h and pressures of up to 1000 bar. Turbochargers , propellers , gas engines and chemical reactors complete the product portfolio. The range of products and services from MAN Energy Solutions includes complete ship propulsion systems, turbo machine sets for both the oil and gas and the process industries, as well as complete power plants . Customers receive worldwide after-sales services under the MAN PrimeServ brand . The company employs around 14,400 people at more than 100 international locations, particularly in Germany, Denmark, France, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, India and China.

MAN Energy Solutions is a company from the Power Engineering business area of MAN SE , which has been a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG since 2011 . The MAN SE Energy Solutions was created in March 2010 from the merger of the two former MAN companies , MAN Diesel SE and MAN Turbo AG under the name of MAN Diesel & Turbo SE . In 2013, what was then MAN Diesel & Turbo SE generated sales of 3.4 billion euros. In June 2018 the name of the company was changed to MAN Energy Solutions SE .

Products

Marine engines

Four-stroke engines

MAN Energy Solutions offers medium-speed four-stroke engines that cover a power range from 177 to 21,600 kW (approx. 240–29,400 hp) and can be operated with liquid or gaseous fuels . They are used to propel all types of merchant ships , due to their compactness and the possibility of elastic mounting, but also in passenger ships. In addition to cruise ships , special ships such as tugs , dredgers or cable laying are other areas of application. Smaller medium-speed four-stroke engines are also installed in high-speed ferries and marine ships. The engines are produced at the company's locations in Augsburg , Saint-Nazaire (France) and Aurangabad (India) as well as by licensees. In addition, the company offers complete propulsion systems consisting of the main engine, gearbox, shaft and propeller.

Two-stroke engines

MAN ship engine

Large two-stroke diesel engines from MAN Energy Solutions are developed at the company's headquarters in Copenhagen , Denmark, and have a power range from 2,000 kW to 87,000 kW (approx. 2,000–115,000 hp). Due to their size, the engines are manufactured by international licensees in the immediate vicinity of the shipyards and power large container ships, freighters and oil tankers. Slow-running two-stroke engines (60 to 240 revolutions per minute) do not need any gears for power transmission; they are directly connected to the propellers via the drive shafts. Thanks to its market leadership in two-stroke marine engines, around 50% of world trade is in MAN engines.

turbocharger

MAN Energy Solutions builds exhaust gas turbochargers for high boost pressures with single-stage radial and axial turbines. The power spectrum of the loaders, which are used in two-stroke and four-stroke marine engines as well as in stationary systems, ranges from around 300 kW to 30,000 kW engine output.

Power plants

MAN diesel engines are mainly used in stationary applications for power plants and emergency power supplies. The offer ranges from smaller power generating sets, called GenSets, to complete power plants with outputs of up to 400 MW. The range for stationary systems includes four-stroke engines with a unit output of 450 kW to 18,900 kW and two-stroke engines for unit outputs of up to 80,000 kW. The power plants are operated with heavy oil , diesel, gas or renewable fuels such as jatropha oil, animal fat or recycled vegetable oils. MAN Energy Solutions also takes over the operation and maintenance of the power plants for its customers.

Turbo machines

MAN steam turbine

MAN Energy Solutions develops and produces compressors as well as gas and steam turbines for electricity production for the process and basic industries, fertilizer production, iron and steel production or for petrochemical applications . The company also offers compressor solutions for the oil and gas industry (upstream, midstream, downstream). These include hermetically sealed compressors with magnetic bearing technology as well as high pressure compressors with final pressures of 300 to 1000 bar. MAN Energy Solutions also builds isothermal compressors for processing industrial gases. MAN gear compressors are used for applications in the field of industrial gases or in the processing and transport of CO 2 . Production locations are Oberhausen , Berlin , Hamburg , Zurich and Changzhou (China).
