The Sydney Bears are a semi-professional Australian ice hockey club from Penrith , New South Wales that was founded in 2000 and plays in the Australian Ice Hockey League .
history
Together with the Canberra Knights and Adelaide Avalanche , the Bears founded the Australian Ice Hockey League in 2000 . So far, the Bears, who played as Sydney Bears in the Sydney Ice Arena in Baulkham Hills, northwest of Sydney , won the Goodall Cup , which the Australian champions receive, twice. They were able to repeat the success of 2002 in 2007. Prior to the 2007 season, the team moved to the western part of Sydney, Penrith, and deleted "Sydney" from the name. In the 2008 season they also won the regular season and received the VIP Cup for it . For the 2010 season, the team again took their original name Sydney Bears.
