AMD FirePro

The AMD FirePro is a professional graphics card from Advanced Micro Devices . AMD FirePro (previously ATI FireGL ) , describes a series of professional 3D graphics cards that are certified for applications in the fields of CAD / CAM / CAE , for animation , visualization and simulation . The FirePro can also be used for Direct3D applications. Starting in 2013, two FirePro D300 with 2 GB GDDR5 Ram (4 GB) or the FirePro D500 with 3 GB GDDR5 Ram (6 GB) were installed as graphics cards in the Apple Mac Pro 6.1 (Trashcan).

The successor series is the Radeon Pro graphics card, with chipsets of the 4th generation. In 2017, the Radeon Pro SSG (Solid State Graphics) should appear as an integrated combination of 2 fast solid-state drives with 1 TB and a graphics card with the Polaris chip set. With it, calculations of the GPU can be accelerated again by a factor of 5 due to the faster access of RAID -0 SSDs. Due to the large buffer and the large main memory, significantly larger models and simulations with OpenCL are possible with high performance.

In the current driver generation, Adrenalin, OpenGL 4.6 for GCN is available from version 18.4.1.

The graphics API Vulkan 1.0 is supported with the GCN architecture. Vulkan 1.1 (GCN from 2nd Gen. or 1.2) is now supported with the latest drivers.
