AMSbarge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The AMSbarge concept was developed by the port authority in Amsterdam to facilitate container transports within the port area and on the Noordzeekanal, as well as nearby commercial areas such as B. in Zaandam , Haarlem and on the Markermeer , to shift from the road to the ship. Companies that are on the water but do not have their own crane for container handling are approached by the port feeder, which handles the containers with its on-board crane. In this way the traffic is relieved. In January 2006 this concept was started as a trial. After the end of the test phase, two appropriately equipped inland vessels have been used in the Amsterdam port area since 2008 to collect containers from several companies and also to distribute them again or to reload them onto ships without using the port's own transhipment facilities. This avoids many truck journeys in the port area.

Barges

The cargo ships used are called port feeders . A Port Feeder (v. Engl. To feed , feed ',' supply ') is a barge , the ports in containers distributed between the container terminals and different loading points. The inland waterway vessel is equipped with an on-board crane in order to be able to handle containers without an existing infrastructure on the land side, ie inland waterway vessels lying at anchor can also be served without blocking corresponding berths and generating additional port costs. The inland vessels used in Amsterdam are operated by the Mercurius Scheepvaart Group. The ships have their own on-board crane for handling containers.

Mercurius Amsterdam

Port feeder Mercurius Amsterdam

The Mercurius Amsterdam was built in 2005. The hull was built by the Begej shipyard in Serbia and equipped in the Netherlands by the K. Damen shipyard. The ship has two holds . A Liebherr type CBW 35/30 crane with a lifting capacity of 35 tonnes at a radius of 24 meters or 30 tonnes at a radius of 30 meters stands between the holds . An automatic ballast system with four ballast pumps with a capacity of 4000 m³ / h each and a hydraulic system for moving two 35-tonne trim weights are installed for trimming.

The apartment is on the aft ship; the wheelhouse is hydraulically adjustable in height.

Transferium

The second ship of this type, the Transferium , was also built by the Begej shipyard in Serbia, with the exception of the loading equipment. The crane for handling containers was later retrofitted in Antwerp. The ship entered service in November 2009. It is equipped with a more powerful crane, can be used as a coupling arrangement with up to three barges and can be used in ARA traffic.

Data:

  • Length: 95.50 m
  • Width: 11.55 m
  • Draft: 3.50 m
  • Load capacity: 2250 tons, 164 TEU
  • Drive: two diesel engines, each with an output of 1500 HP
  • Pump drive: Cummins QSK 19-M, 492 kW power
  • Bow thruster: two bow thrusters with 425 kW each
  • Board crane: 40 tonnes with a 28 m radius

A similar concept is being pursued with the Port Feeder Barge in the Port of Hamburg . To a certain extent, so-called port transfers have been carried out in Hamburg for years.
