The ASG-Bildungsforum is a state-recognized and non-profit institute for further education based in Düsseldorf . The responsible body is the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Sozialpädagogik und Gesellschaftbildung e. V. (ASG). The ASG is committed to Christian values and, with around 70,000 hours of teaching per year, is one of the largest further education institutes in North Rhine-Westphalia and the largest Catholic institute in Germany. It combines three facilities under one roof:
- The "Bildungswerk" with a focus on general, professional and leisure-oriented further education (recognition as a further education institution according to the further education law of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia at the Ministry of Economics and Labor). The core areas of cultural education include offers in the areas of theology , philosophy , literature , art and music . Especially participants with professional ambitions take courses and seminars in the fields of foreign languages , IT , communication / rhetoric and business .
- The “family education center” with a focus on upbringing and family (recognition according to the Further Education Act and the KJHG at the Ministry of Health, Social Affairs, Women and Family). In addition to the courses that deal with questions about household and upbringing, there is also a comprehensive range of courses to promote cognitive and creative skills for children of pre-school and primary school age. An extensive range of sports offers health care for adults and children.
- The ASG also performs the tasks of a regional Catholic educational organization and Catholic family education for the city dean's office in Düsseldorf.
The ASG education forum is frequented by over 47,000 participants every year. More than 50 permanent employees are responsible for organizing and handling the training courses. In addition, almost 1,000 honorary employees are entrusted with the implementation of more than 3,500 events. The spectrum ranges from baby care to philosophy lectures. The ASG has five of its own buildings with a total of 42 classrooms. Events are held in rented rooms at more than 120 other teaching locations.
management
In 1954, Maria Hölters founded the Catholic Working Group on Mothers' Education . In 1964 the ASG education forum emerged. Her son Hans-Friedrich Hölters took over the management in 1975. In April 2004 Markus Kiefer took over the management and management of the ASG-Bildungsforum. Kiefer was previously active in various functions in adult education and had been managing director of the Political Forum Ruhr in Essen for the past ten years . On June 1, 2009, it was announced that ASG had separated from Kiefer due to differences of opinion about the future structure. Since then, the theologian and educator Antonius Kerkhoff has led the ASG education forum as chairman of the board. After Kerkhoff moved to Münster, where he became director of the Franz-Wärme-Haus , Tim Lindfeld, who has a doctorate in theology, was appointed director and head of the ASG from November 1, 2016.
