Sporting successes

Above all in the dodgeball game, sling ball game and in athletics, the ATR has achieved great sporting successes in the past and also in the present. Athletes were successful in the sling ball game, which is now back on the rise in the club, and in the individual athletic discipline sling ball throwing.

The first German championship title was won by the sling ball players in 1923 in the final against the Oldenburg TB 7: 6 at the German Gymnastics Festival in Munich. An important pillar of the team was Heinz Meister, who in 1930 won the second German championship title for AT Rodenkirchen in a throwing ball throwing 70.30 meters. In 1956 a youth team was able to win the Lower Saxony vice state championship.

Further German championship titles were won in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010 by the women's völkerball team under the direction of Julia Müller (née Ahlhorn). In 2008, the ATR youth team also won a national title. In addition to the national titles, the teams won numerous state and district championships. For these successes, the teams were chosen several times in the election for Team of the Year organized by the Kreissportbund Wesermarsch and the Nordwestzeitung.

Several ATR athletes are entered in the roll of honor under circle records, as these records from the 80s and 90s still exist today. The success story began in 1992 when Andre Baars got 4th place at the state championships. It was only in the new millennium that ATR athletes, especially in the throwing disciplines, were able to win titles again on a national level. Kurt Brüggemann has been on the podium several times at the state championships in pentathlon. In 2008 he was able to take part in the German championship in the thrower-5 fight of the seniors and took a good 8th place there. René Schäfer has ensured further successes since winning the state pentathlon championship in 2006. In 2007 and 2008 he was national champion in stone throwing and took part in the national championships in 2007, 2008 and 2009. He also won numerous district and district championships and was elected Sportsman of the Year of the Wesermarsch in 2006 for his sporting successes, such as the dodgeballers, and in 2008 took second place in the poll.
