The Waste Management mbH Bassum (AWG) is a subsidiary of Diepholz and entrusted with the waste and recycling management. She is a member of the Association of Municipal Enterprises (VKU).

history

A forerunner of the AWG, the Garbage Disposal Association Grafschaft Hoya, started operations in 1972 with initially 2 garbage trucks . In 1977 he took on tasks as a management company for the district based in Syke-Barrien. 1977/1978 construction of the central landfill in Bassum. 1988 Conversion into the independent “Office for Waste Management” district waste management. 1990 Introduction of the bio-bin and construction of the first stage of the composting plant. 1993 Conversion of the “Office for Waste Management” into the “Kreisabfallwirtschaft” (district waste management) company. 1997 Commissioning of the mechanical-biological residual waste treatment plant (RABA). 1998 Conversion of the district waste management into today's AbfallWirtschaftsGesellschaft mbH. 2005 Commissioning of the Blumenthal thermal power station. 2012 Start and expansion of the recycling centers, establishment of mini recycling centers.

Waste collection

The AWG collects around 200,000 tons of waste / recyclable materials annually in the Diepholz district and partly in neighboring districts and processes them in its disposal center on the outskirts of Bassum . It also operates four large recycling centers ( Aschen , Sulingen , Bassum, Stuhr / Weyhe ), nine mini recycling centers (Stuhr, Weyhe, Bruchhausen-Vilsen , Lemförde , Barnstorf , Rehden , Wagenfeld , Siedenburg , Kirchdorf ) and various other collection points.

Recovery

Over 70% of the collected waste is recycled. With the residual waste treatment plant (RABA), the composting plant, a central landfill with sewage treatment plant, an interim storage facility for problematic waste and other facilities, the AWG has a wide range of waste technology facilities.

Energy producer

AWG produces around 2/3 of its electricity from residual waste with a high calorific value in the Blumenthal thermal power station , 1/3 comes from the biogas, wind and photovoltaic systems.
