A Night Like This is a pop song by Dutch singer Caro Emerald from her debut album Deleted Scenes from the Cutting Room Floor . The release took place on December 11, 2009 in the Netherlands, after the song had previously been heard on October 16, 2009 in an advertisement by Martini . The piece was written by David Schreurs , Jan van Wieringen and Vince Degiorgio .

In August 2009, Caro Emerald's songwriters David Schreurs and Vince Degiorgio were hired by Martini to write a 1960s-inspired song for their advertising campaign. In the interview, Schreurs stated that they wrote the song in about an hour. The finished song appeared as the eleventh track on Emerald's debut album and was also used by Martini for their advertising campaign after initial rejection. The music video for the song was shot in Opatija , Lovran and Rijeka in Croatia .
Success and performance
The song reached number one in the charts in Austria and was fifth in the 2010 Dutch annual charts; In 2011 it was awarded platinum in Germany . Emerald sang the title at the finals of Germany's Next Topmodel on June 9, 2011.
Lyrics and music
The lyrics are about a special night the protagonist experienced and which she dreams of again and again in retrospect. What exactly happened that night remains unclear; among other things, the stanzas are about a card game that the protagonist was watching. The music of the piece is kept in the style of the 60s.
