The residential building at Aachener Straße 236 is in the city of Mönchengladbach in North Rhine-Westphalia in the Holt district . It was built in 1926 . The building was entered under No. A 025 on May 17, 1989 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

Aachener Strasse leads from Abteiberg in downtown Mönchengladbach to the southwest through the Westend and Holt districts. House number 236 is in the north-east of the district and about 20 meters away from the road to the north-west.

architecture

The two-storey building has an additively complicated floor plan . As an optical “joint” of the facade , a cylindrical structure, which contains the front door , connects the transverse rectangular main wing with a structure of the same height and length in the facade that leads into it at an angle of 45 °. The façade, which is bent at an angle and consists of two legs of equal size, contains two windows in the left wing on the ground floor and two more windows on the first floor; the right wing contains three small windows on the ground floor and two windows on the first floor, symmetrically corresponding to the left half of the facade.

Between the ground floor and the first floor there is a sill ledge around the sides of the building . The tower-like, cylindrical entrance body with a polygonally broken bell cover . On the five-axis rear side (garden side) of the main structure, in the center, a three-axis loggia consisting of four angular broken columns with beams , above serving as a balcony for the first floor . Except for the two side windows on the first floor, all windows on the rear have been extended to "French windows" (windows that extend down to the floor). A bat dormer on each side of the angled hipped roof .
