Abacus is a German rock band.

history

In January 1971 Chris Williams founded the band Abacus together with Chris Barutzky, Charly Schade, Klaus Kohlhase and Felix Hans. The name is based on the Greek / Roman board game Abacus . After three months of songwriting, they performed for the first time at a pop festival in Langelsheim ( Harz ) and attracted the attention of the Polydor label . In August of the same year they recorded their first LP Abacus there. After various appearances and a. also on television, after a personnel change they recorded the second LP Just a Day's Journey Away . In 1976 the band split due to musical differences, but the creative engine, bassist Klaus Kohlhase, founded the band again in 1979 with other members and a record deal with EMI . The Time of Commotion keyboardist and studio musician Jürgen Wimpelberg has also been there since 1979. Under his leadership, new albums and re-releases appear at Musea, Pängg Distribution and New Music - Green Tree.
