Abd al-Munʿim ar-Rifaʿi
ʿAbd al-Munʿim ar-Rifaʿi (also Abdelmunim Al-Rifai , Arabic عبد المنعم الرفاعي, DMG ʿAbd al-Munʿim ar-Rifāʿī ; * February 23, 1917 in Tire in Lebanon ; † October 17, 1985 in Amman ) was a diplomat and politician of Lebanese origin.
He was Prime Minister of Jordan twice (March 24, 1969 to August 13, 1969 and June 27, 1970 to September 16, 1970).
Ar-Rifaʿi was the first Ambassador of Jordan to the United Nations in New York (1956). From 1968 to 1969 and 1969 to 1970 he was Jordan’s Foreign Minister .
At the same time he was known as one of the most important poets in Jordan. He is the author of the text of the Jordanian national anthem As-salam al-malaki al-urduni .
