Abdel Aziz El Mubarak

Abdel Aziz El Mubarak ( Arabic عبد العزيز المبارك) (* 1951 in Wad Madani ; † before or on February 9, 2020 in Cairo ) was a Sudanese singer and oud player.

Wad Madani is known as the "City of the Arts" in Sudan, and Abdel Aziz El Mubarak had a musical family: his brother Ahmed and his son Osama are well-known violinists, another brother is a flutist.

He was trained at the Institute for Music and Drama in Khartoum in the early 1970s . He made his first appearances on radio and television in 1975 and became known in Sudan. He was the first Sudanese to take part in the WOMAD Festival in 1988 .

Abdel Aziz El Mubarak sang mainly love songs; He was accompanied by a ten-piece orchestra with the following instruments: bass guitar , tabla , saxophone , four violins , guitar , bongo and accordion . He also performed solo as an oud player. Alongside Abdel Gadir Salim , he was one of the most famous musicians in Sudan.
